Thanks, because I need it with this thing. I'll add another page or two to my website in the next day or two, but other things that I've run across over the last week or two....

1) Dellortos missing 3 of the 4 cable adjuster lock nuts
2) Gas tank previously sealed improperly, so it is peeling
3) Choke control mounted upside down, missing both mounting screws, one screw broken and a hole drilled next to it for a pin, and an old wheel seal used as a spacer on the handle bar for some unknown reason
4) Rear wheel bearings are bad
5) Angle of one throttle cable too severe, so I had to order an angled fitting
6) More research makes me feel that the 125 main jets will be far too small

I'm amazed at the stuff I have to repair that actually isn't costing me any money.....just time in labor.

I've been using POR tank sealant kits. I like them a lot better than the other stuff I used to use, the name of which I can't come up with right now... it's the typical one peolpe mention whan asking about sealers...

POR also has a "heavy duty"kit that includes a stripper to remove old sealers. Check it out here:

:D there is also the option of getting the tank fibreglassed on the inside its like a plastic coatting but you have to send it away for that ,you may find some bike shops in your area that will point you in the right direction . its a great option if you have rust holes, as you get it done then fill the holes up with bog then paint . it also takes a hell of a impact to rupture.

After watching your last pic in the site, I can only suggest to change the smaller bearings with the original modified ones...
They aren't cheap, but they absolutely free from troubles!
have a nice ride, Nicola

Desmo_Demon,

I've been offline for a couple of months and I'm trying to catch up. I have twin PHM 40 Dell Ortos and I have two of those "Y"pieces in the fuel line.

From the standard pump the pipe goes to the first "Y". One side of this goes back to the tank and the other goes to the other "Y". The two outlets from this go to each carb.

I put my fuel line tap between the pump and the first "Y". It sits back under the headlight and can be used as an immoboliser too. I posted some pictures and a part number just over a year ago.

Already seen it, made a hardcopy, and put it in my 3-ring binder with the shop manual, parts manual, and other threads of interest that I've found on this site.

On a side note - Over the weekend, I assisted a buddy with the valve adjustment on his 2002 998 Superbike. In return, he gave me a set of early 90's SS900 wheels that may wind up on the Paso....but it will be quite a while before I even think about messing with that.....Also, two weekends ago, I missed a '93 Paso 907ie, running and rideable, for $1500....I was two hours too late.

Isn't the same.
The 907 has the fuel pump inside the tank. The 750 out of this.
Ciao.

I haven't had a whole lot of time to get much done on the Paso, lately, at least not enough to get a lot taken care of. I completed the valve adjustment last night.....had to change all eight shims, though. As I was installing the last exhaust closing shim, I casually glanced at the intake valve train and happened to notice that the valve seal was torn in two places. I know I didn't do it, and by the looks of the tears, they've been like that for a while, so......I've decided to check on new seals and will probably tear out the valve trains in each head and replace all four valve seals. I figure since I have it apart, I may as well avoid any further, foreseeable issues.

I also noticed another thing, the other day, when working on the horizontal head. One of the brake calipers (left side) was missing a mounting bolt. Further investigation resulted in a mounting lug on the lower fork leg had been snapped and half of it was missing. Looks like I'll be doing a fork service whether I was wanting to or not. I'll probably disassemble that fork leg to get the caliper mount welded, ground, drilled, and tapped. I guess, I may as well replace both fork seals while I have the front end apart......whenever I can get around to that......and the replacement of the rear wheel bearings that are shot.

On a positive note, I picked up a brand new set of Michelin tires for the bike for $195 shipped to my door, through eBay. A guy sold his Paso and had this spare set of tires in a separate auction.

I don't have any new pictures for the website, yet, as I'm not done with the valves (now that I'll replace the valve seals). I'll add more pictures to the site after I finish with the seals and install the new belts. After that, I'll do the wiring upgrade, run fuel lines, and fire the bike up with an auxilary fuel tank until I get around to cleaning and sealing the tank.

I just figured some of you may be interested in an update on my Paso Project.......Nothing, yet, has required much money to repair or make correct, but it's amazing how badly someone can screw up a motorcycle. I'm still aiming for +/- $1600 USD for it to be streetworthy with new tires, new chain, rebuilt carbs, sealed tank, wiring upgrade, valve adjustment, new timing belts, new valve seals, and new wheel bearings......until I find something else wrong with it. :ugh:

Just thought of something else......anyone put a set of newer forks on their Paso? I have access to the complete front end from a '94 SS900 (forks, triples, full-floating brake system). I can pick these up for *free*, and I already have both wheels from the bike. I was thinking that the forks and brake upgrade would be really sweet, too. I imagine a custom set of triples would be required......Naturally, at the rate I'm going, it will take another year or so before I ever get to that stage. :ugh:

Currently I'm running a fork from a 750SSie -99/00. It's a Showa USD non adjustable. I got the triclamp when I bought it and needed to use the steerstem from the Paso due to different bearingsize.

The stem is pressed in both bottom yokes, soo a good workshop can press the stem out of the paso yoke and fit to the new.

I converted to 17" during the winter and the fork upgrade was included.

Handles very good.

Still not through with the valve-guide seal replacement.....I've been short on time, lately. I have the vertical head completely finshed and back together. The horizontal head is being a PITA to reinstall the closing rocker with the preload spring, but I'm hoping to complete this step of the process by the end of the weekend.

It'll have all new valve guide seals, valve adjustment, and new belts, when I'm done with this step. Another page to the project should be added in the next week or two. I'll post it when I get it done. After that, I'll be doing the wiring upgrade and will make a colored wiring schematic for the wiring mod. Stay tuned for a future update! :D
