Elephant gearbox for 750 Paso

Post by zedder »

I have seen this gearbox for sale on eBay and need to know if it is the same as the Paso ?
I'm hoping that it will restore relative silence to my transmission
UPDATE
I have been told by the vendor that the gearing may be different but may be corrected by larger/smaller sprockets ?

** BUMP **

Any ideas comments would be appreciated, as I need to get at least 1 of my Paso's mobile very soon
I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms now :x

I have purchased this item now £92 + £8 shipping charge ?
Was this a fair price :?:

I will check tonight..........

I have a book on Duc 2valve and it has all the sprocket and gear ratios - will check paso and elephant - I'm guessing its a 750 elephant?

According to my book the PASO 750 shared the same gear ratio's with 750F1,750 SPORT,750 MONSTER AND ELEFANT 750(not sure what year)

1st gear 16/40 teeth
2nd 21/36
3rd 24/32
4th 27/29
5th 29/28

The primary drive (crank to geargear connection) was different - PASO 36/71 - Elefant 37/71 but the gearbox was the same.

Now, to throw a spanner in the works my book also shows a "750 Elephant" (not sure what year) with

1st 14/43
2nd 20/37
3nd 24/32
4th 27/29
5th 29/27

All I can suggest is have a count up of the cogs and see if it matches the top list - same as Paso

Thanks for the info Tony
I'll have a count up when it arrives, but it is from a 750 Elephant, so it should be ok :)

Hi
Are you sure that the lenght of primary and secondary gearbox are the same both for Paso and Elefant engines? this is why the 1995 elefant engine is wet clutch system.
tks for your reply

Sorry for late reply to this topic, I have had real probs with my internet too !!
I dont know if the lengths are the same yet, (hoping they are?) but the gears are all the same as was posted earlier in this thread by silverfox (Tony)
So I wont know for sure till I strip the bike. (winter re-build)
I will be sure to keep you all posted as to my findings :D
