907 frame rubbers

Post by miles »

Hey guys,

I found a small stash of frame rubbers in our parts dept and I put them up on eBay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... _500wt_955

Note: These are no longer available from Ducati.

I bought a few of them from my local dealer two years ago. Between the new ones and the used spares, I think I've got a few extras laying around, still. I think I sold a few of them about a year ago, though.

Are they really not available, any more? I know one guy on this forum had a local dealer insist that the turn signal lenses were no longer available, but when I called my local dealer, he said he could still get them, so.....the guy called my local dealer and bought two sets of the lenses about three months ago.

I've notice that a lot of "discontinued" parts are really the dealer being too lazy to want to look up the part.

I believe the shipping is calculated through eBay - we enter the product weight and dimensions and add a small handing fee and they do the rest. I will have my eBay guy double check the numbers but I think they are correct.

Please note that we are down to one set:

Unfortunately these are in fact discontinued. As stated, marker lenses are not discontinued - I just ordered a few pairs for someone here last week!

There is no any need to use such rubbers in frame.... I have taken them away from my all Pasos and no any damages to fairings at all.... AND if want to use such, then samekind are very easy to make from some rubber with self rubbing tape to keep them in frame tube....

OK, we added $5 to the price of the item and made the shipping free (US only). My eBay guy tells me there's a problem with eBay's calculator and that's why the shipping estimates were coming out so high.

rising the unit price makes it even more expensive for overseas ebayers as shipping costs i.e. to Europe remained the same.

Uh ... Miles ... this is the paso forum, not ebay -- check your URL bar ;)

Sure, all business transactions have costs, but it seems like an on-line transaction just might cost less than an in-person transaction, so why add $5? You already have retail mark-up over dealer cost. And why use ebay's shipping calculator? Try usps.com

OK, I'm grinding away just a bit on this.

Guys, lighten up a little. The price may be high or the shipping may be high but no sense driving someone away that may have a part you need in the future. The market is what YOU want to pay. Hope Miles come back with more discontinued parts. Never know what you need.

Tough crowd!

I also think so, but when we saw the orange lenses (still available at the dealers for €. 4.50) sold for $. 100 and more, that wasn't the market, but its failure.
