Which probably just refers to the side that the idle adjustment screw is located, I'm guessing. Having one of each just makes it easier to tune from one side of the bike instead of going back-and-forth, I assume, since both adjustment screws will be facing the same side of the bike once mounted.

they normally display the SX and DX tags for left and right (sinistra & destra)

Thanks to this site, I've learned a LOT about the Paso and it's "character". It is from this site that I know I have to smooth out the dimples on the Dellorto slides before I even discovered that they will be an issue. I've printed out the "Ducati Cuddle" written by Skins and read it a couple of times, in hopes of making setting up the carbs less of an issue. Lots of searches and surfing through the forum has me wanting to do the wiring modification for starting improvement and a possible modification of adding an inline fuel shut-off, as other have done. This will be a fairly slow project (by my standards), but it's looking like I'm saving myself future headaches by hanging out here, so......Thanks to all of you who contribute to the troubleshooting of our Pasos!

the front part of your F1 cans are normal steel not stainless right ?
Just a hint, you may consider to wipe that part off with an oily rag. Of course it may smoke a bit the first seconds the bike is running. Repeat this 3 or 4 times with some driving periods inbetween.
It will take the shine away a bit but you won`t have to bother with surface rust anymore after the "burn in" period.
Of course you can do the same with the header.

I didn't really pay it any attention, I was assuming that they are stainless since they don't appear to have any rust or any type of coating on them. The bad spots on them just looked like stains that were removed very easily with the sandpaper. The outside of the cans are aluminum, so those cleaned up pretty easily with the sandpaper and it left them with a "brushed" look. I may detail them a bit better, later, but I didn't see a point in it, just yet. If they are a carbon steel, I'll keep an eye on them for rusting.

Thanks for the pictures, DuC-MaN! My Dellorto assembly will look like that when I'm done. I have already swapped the two intakes and have both carbs extremely clean and almost reassembled. I found two washers missing on one of the carbs and had to buy a jet, so I am just waiting for those to arrive. I bought two gasket rebuild kits and new accelerator pump diaphragms. On a side note, both cables come straight out the top, so I'm debating on installing 45-degree or 90-degree cable tubes on top of each. I'll have to make sure that the cables don't bind before I decide. I did notice that the choke lever assembly was improperly installed, so I whould be able to repair that easily.

I'll just have to check/readjust the floats and find a file small enough to get rid of the idle screw adjustment dimples in the slide before I reinstall them. I'm hoping to have the carbs installed at the end of this weekend, then I'm planning on redoing the fuel lines, replace the belts, and check the valves.....and then see if she'll start. The process is slow when it takes 1-3 weeks to get parts.

What is that diaphragm thing on your oil lines? My oil lines go strait to the oil coolers. There is nothing like that on them. Is it some sort of thermostat?

this thing you mean?

was on it when i bought the bike, yes a thermostat (i believe it opens at 80ºCelsius).

Thats the one. Seems like a good idea so long as the pump dosen't mind.

My first '91 750 SSNuda didnt have any oilcooler(s) so i guess the pump doesnt mind. The bike will get faster at the right temperature and doesnt cool down too much in winter (in the snow :laugh: )

Hay Duc-man. I can really see you out riding your Paso on the 2 or 3 days of snow you get in Den-Haag a year.

In the same place monster has a tap. Maybe there's a bypass valve inside the oil line, as the tap is a manual one

highly reccomend the wiring upgrade for the ignition coils ,also it is a good idea to run the headlight though a relay as well , i did mine and the headlight is 50% better due to the round about way the wiring goes . i fit 4 new fuses in a waterproof casing beside the rear brake resevior one for the coils , one for the headlight , one for the fuel pump and a spare.
the wiring for the indicator sounder is taped up on mine have yet to source one but probably wont here it over the contis so havent bothered.
