very simplified a USD fork reduces the unsprung masses* and stiffens the front end as the triple clamps hold the thick part of the fork. This improves handling and response.

in totally there are 2 engines. both are dismantled.
during the restauration we build in a brandnew SP4 engine.

Bertus - the only thing I can dismantle easily is a steak and kidney pie and I certainly couldn't put it back together again - a Ducati engine? No hope. That's a Visa Card situation.

Actually G, I couldn't actually get on the 851 at the moment (my left hip and both my knees are agony and are being completely replaced later this year. In the meantime lots of Morphine derivatives . . . no I'm not kidding.) To be honest I think getting on the 907 would be a struggle.

I think I probably could get my leg over the 916 - then couldn't get my knees bent enough to get my feet up! After that I couldn't get my hip to flex enough to get off again. Stranded on a bike!!

If I need to go out for a fast blast in comfort it looks like I'm going to have to buy a Second Generation Vmax . . .

sorry to hear about your physical situation.
but....maybe this is a solution for you. A fast blast with a slightly modified 996R.
you can outrun the segway.

To be honest I hope you recover that you can enjoy the comfty 907.
