Bogging issues??????

Hey guys I m having terrible bogging issues its at low to midrage but then opens up I really dont know what to look for plugged jets??? i dont think it a electrical issue but idk any tips what be appreciated..Vince

Hi Vince,

here's a couple of ideas. I'm assuming that this is a new problem, not something that has been going on for a while and that you have the stock weber fitted ?

First try some new plugs,and check your leads and other ignition wiring isn't loose or shorting out.

second check your idle jets are clear,these are on both sides of the carby,and can be removed without dismantling the carb.These control the fuel supply for low and mid range,so are a good possibility.

Otherwise it may be a rich problem.

It could be your choke not closing off properly.This can be either at the actuating lever on the rear of the carby, where the cable attaches,if the spring isn't returning it fully.

Or one of the choke valves not seating properly,which is a common problem with the webers.These valves are under the top cover of the carby,toward the rear end and are retained by little 'split washer' like clips that can be gently prised up with a small screwdriver.The choke cover must also be removed from the rear of the carb and then the spring and valve will slide out.These valves can be lapped into their seats,like lapping a cylinder head valve,Not a difficult job at all.

A too high float level could be another culprit,perhaps caused by lack of fuel regulator.

Start with the easy stuff first,thats where most problems will be found. J.
