Has anyone else tried this? Spaggy at the Ducati Owners Club and others reckon tyre growth at speed/temperature means the tyre will foul the brace at the front/pivot nd of the swing arm

Thanks for this CB - how's the tyre clearance holding up (& has anyone else tried this?) Spaggy at the Ducati Owners Club and others reckon tyre growth at speed/temperature means the tyre will foul the brace at the front/pivot nd of the swing arm

Hi CB
- did you tune or check the speedometer after the conversion?
- is the sidestand working or is the angle know very different than before the conversion (or did you extend the side stand / central stand in any way)?
- I will try the same concept as you did in respect of the tire / wheel modification. Whenever you put some additional miles on your bike it would be very interesting if you could describe us your experience with the new set of tires and any possible problems observed so far (of course I hope that there are no
Thanks a lot for your feedback and you really did a great job on how our 906 pasos finally could get rescued!

CB I don`t get this
G.
If the (flat) sprocket is behind the retainer clip and you reverse it you just gain the 5mm offset, not 10.To fit this tyre, I had to move the chain over. I estimated this to be 10mm. My front sprocket was offset in by 5mm, so by removing it and turning it over I got the 10mm offset required.
I`d think as the tire is made for heavy bikes it`s thicker, maybe even reinforced so growth will be less than a standard tire.others reckon tyre growth at speed/temperature means

I have not checked or altered the speedo since the conversion, but intend to match it against my wife driving her Toyota at some time when I have the opportunity.
Details of mods to the centre stand are on page 6 of this topic. I have found the bike is slightly harder to lift up onto the stand with the longer legs.
The sidestand is unmodified and working ok. When parked on a road it does not appear to lean too much. I have gravel around my house so when I park it outside at home I place a piece of 20mm thick scrap wood under the foot to stop it sinking in. Here are a couple of photos of it in company with my other bikes in our front carpark. Both the Ducati and Kawasaki have wood under their stands (which you can't see) while the Triumph does not as it has a larger foot.

Thankyou for your kind words about my efforts with the topic. I will continue to inform you all of how the bike performs as I use it. However it is winter here now and opportunities to ride are few.
Cheers, CB

Hi G,paso750 wrote:CB I don`t get thisIf the (flat) sprocket is behind the retainer clip and you reverse it you just gain the 5mm offset, not 10. This would mean your front and rear sprocket are out of line by 5mm now. (if you replaced your front sprocket with a dished one from a P750 you would gain another 3-3,5mm offset so you could correct it to ca 8,5mm reducing the amount your sprockets are out of line.To fit this tyre, I had to move the chain over. I estimated this to be 10mm. My front sprocket was offset in by 5mm, so by removing it and turning it over I got the 10mm offset required.

My chainline is moved over at the front by 10mm. Think of it like this:
as fitted, the sprocket is offset in from the centre line of the sprocket by 5mm
by tuning it over, the centre line is still the same, but the 5mm offset is now out.
5mm + 5mm = 10mm.
As for the current concerns over tyre growth I can only repeat that mine does not rub with my excenter position. If you are contemplating this conversion and your rear wheel is adjusted closer to the swingarm than mine (maybe your chain is newer) then you will have to make your own calculations for what clearance you will have.
My excenter position and clearance this gives is documented on page 4 of this topic.
