highly modified 750 sport: $1600

Post by jetboy »

Well-- recently ive been looking at my array of various motorcycles and thinking about selling a couple so I could get a newer- nicer ride for touring and commuting.

the 750 sport may be on the block - but wanted to ask on the forum first to see if anyone here might be interested - or if you knew anyone looking before i run the craigslist gauntlet.

Image

it has been wrecked- and then highly modified as follows:

1. fairings stripped
2. chrome belt covers, chrome valve covers
3. SS oil cooler +stainless lines +location
4. SS Showa Shock
5. ss750 steel swingarm (cut and welded to fit)
6. vented clutch
7. tomaselli 3-way adjustable bars
8. Honda 7" headlight +LED blinkers
9. mini-speedo with built in flasher,gas, highbeems
10. custom seat (needs clasp fixed)
11. dell'orto carbs
12. Supertrap cans (sets off car alarms all the time)
13. end bar mirrors
14. stainless brake lines
15. monster R/r
16. homemade brake light assembly- but i do have a stock one to install if wanted
17. steering damper
.
probably more im forgetting.

it does have a 2 dings in the frame- but no cracks and a ding in the tank from when it went down. clean title. runs well, i use it all the time - starts right up and hauls ass!

its a ducati rat bike - which is rare in its own right!

(sorry the pic still has the stock shock- )

If I had the room in the garage, I would take it off your hands. Good luck at selling it. We never did go for a ride together.

yeah - i suck. ;p) sorta looking to buy a house and i have like 5 motorcycles in various states that i could sell to help- the 750 is one of the good ones but its just not the best commuter in the fleet - which is what i primarily need a bike for. so its concentrate on 1 bike and use the extra money for other things for a bit.

i still owe you some scotch-

i put it on craigslist last night and i have 5 replies this morning, so its probably gonna go.

let me know if you end up getting 'stuck' with it. I'm interested, but I can't offer you much.

heh, maybe i can sell it to you and then buy it back later!

well, the price is really just to weed out the serious bottom feeders on craigslist. - ive found if you price it at what you want, or expect, you get tons of people offering you like $500 bucks - and no one serious. lets see how the week ends. ive had a straight offer from a racer down in LA - but rather it not get destroyed on the race track, also a guy who wants to do installments, etc- im hoping to get 1200 - might get more out of the installment guy but thats sort of a pain.

And if he sells it to me, it will look even more wild, or fugly, or rad, or desconstructed, or something, but it won't be looking like that for long. If you sell me your bike, you can still come down here and visit it. Heck, you can even take for a spin every once in a while, and yes , I might even sell it back to you when you get the urge again.

Josh,
My recomendation for a more civilized bike for commuting, and carrying stuff, would be an ST2. You can pick them up for $3k at times. I sold mine last year for $3500 with lots of mods. Lovely bike, water cooled, fuel injection, nice seat postion, hard bags, modern suspension and brakes, and you can pass almost anything insight. Best all around bike around I can think of, but then again, I am biased. I now have the ST4s and will proably always have that. I'm still interested in your bike. Come on down to Fremont and take my ST for a spin.

Cheers,
Phil
