bit of a disaster..

Yesterday, I came back from a long ride round Leics., Rutland, Lincs, fab trip. Parked up in my yard and had a look round the bike (907ie), and was horrified to see that 2 of the rear sprocket nuts had come undone and proceeded to eat their way through the swing arm and the axle-adjuster end plate.

So there is now a large slot in the inner face of the swing arm. Whats crazy is that I did'nt notice. With ear plugs and "throaty" Boss pipes, itr might cover the noise, but you might think I would have felt something.

That aside, I either need a replacement, or I have to get it repaired. I dont know if the swing-arm is shared by any other models in the Ducati range? Can anyone help with that, or know of a bike being broken for parts?

Thanks, Tom.

First, it can be welded, l have FHE.
Not unusual to have wrong side of
left side wheel spacer against swing
on Monsters causing similar damage as yours.

Carbed M900 and 851 & 888 share similar,
but the suspension is different so 907
swing is unique.

Your not the only one to suffer this .....by far . I think given the frequency of this event giving some attention to these nuts should be a regular thing. Id be a starter for lock wiring them .🙂

That is a horrible discovery, unfortunately aluminium doesn't put up much of a fight against steel nut grinders. I am definitely going to check mine tonight.

I hope you can find a good replacement unit quickly but it is still worth getting a quote from a qualified welder to repair the original.

I will send pics of the gruesome details. Hopefully get swing arm off today. Have been recommended a local firm.

If your going to get it welded make sure the welder is smart enough to only do a wee bit at a time coz the last thing you want is the swing arm distorting from heat if someone welds it all in one go🙂
