Hey all,

My Paso's oil pressure light isn't working.

I assume it should come on at startup and then go out, and come on if the oil pressure drops.
The bulb is good.

Anything else to check besides the sender?

Start by verifying there is a ground at the sender itself. It grounds thru the right side oil cooler; there is a black wire using a ring terminal connected at the top of the oil cooler by the temp gauge sender. It has a Molex style white plug. Is it plugged in? Use a multimeter to verify it has a good ground.

Then, try this. Unplug sensor (right side down low, by the oil cooler). Push a small piece of wire into the 1/4" spade connector, or make a jumper if you have the terminals.

Turn the key on. You should have no oil light. Ground this wire. The light should come on.

If that works, you have verified the wiring and bulb, all that's left is the sender.

You could also verify the sender by using an multimeter in the ohms or continuity setting. Connect one meter leg to the sender spade, the other to ground. Should show low ohms; start the bike, should show "OL".


EDIT: If it is indeed the sender, post # 12 here shows some part numbers for substitutes, the best one was 1/2 the price of the Ducati OEM one.

Glad to help, hope it works for you.

Please note I edited my post, you need to check the ground before condemning the sensor. My original post ignored checking the ground, as later Ducatis have the sender threaded directly into the case, ground is never an issue. But with the Paso, that's one more possibility.

Was the sender. I ordered the Bosch part.

This was recommended -- http://www.stein-dinse.biz/Complete-par ... :1165.html
but it's more and requires changing the plugs.
