907ie Engine in another DUCATI FRAME......a Question

Folks can any one help clear up a question for me - will the 907ie engine slot into any other Ducati model Frames without to much additional work?

I have a spare engine and although I have not yet finished my present rebuild have seen a few other model frames/rolling chassis going quite cheaply recently so am thinking about using the engine in another project rather than let it sit idle in the garage.

Any ideas or clues please?

I think that it will fit into any frame that would otherwise have a 2 valve belt drive in it .I know that the paso motor is narrower where the swingarm pivot passes thru the cases ( IE the SS motor wouldnt fit without machining a bit off , and the front mount that bolts to the front pot , just above the base gasket line is not used on the SS to mount the motor but to fit a stem with the fairing buffers on them. AND as I have just seen ( actually I helped..... I think ) some one fit an old TT500 motor to a RM125 frame so I guess it might depend on just how obsessed/fixated one becomes with the idea, to say nothing about how B your FH may be :D

Indeed all 2V belt engines have the same footprint but are machined differently according to frame type and bike brand (re. Cagiva Elefant and Gran Canyon etc.). With some shimming and or grinding / milling work it is not impossible.

You're from Manchester are you? Than go see Italsport in Bury and talk to Roy (if he is in, else ask his son Paul) for advise. Roy has a black belt in transplanting Duck engines.
