PASO 750(1987) Voltage Regulator Rectifier broken..

Post by marcobosisio »

I have a Ducati PASO 750 (1987) and the Voltage Regulator Rectifier with the code " 34351 12 25A 8609 Ducati Energia" is broken.
The resin has been strained and was burning....
I stopped the engine that apparently was running without problem.
Could you tell me kindly analogous regulator in alternative or an equivalent… possibly more reliable?
What is it better to check before install the new ?
Note that I turned off the Paso
Thanks in advance

The most effective R/R for the Ducati is the Electrex RR51.
It needs some minor modification to fit on the Paso's electrics, but they say it's very better than the stock one.
I have it on one of my 907 and I've had no problem since.
You have to check all the electric connections because they are very bad and can go rusty.

A bad connection is the most frequent failure point for the R/R . It is such a critical part of the electric system and its malfunction can create so many problems, I usually cut off the connectors, and solder the wires. Most regulators will last the lifetime of the bike, and even if it doesn't, re-soldering wires is not a big deal. Go with solder and ride with confidence. Connectors are all suspect, especially when they carry big current.

I agree that the Electrex is a good product.
Also, make sure the body of the R/R is grounded properly. This is another common failure point.

Ok     .
Search the melted connections and weld its wires.
