According to MCN, here are a couple leaked-but-official pictures of Ducati's forthcoming 1098:

Looks like the nosecone is the marriage of the Desmosedici RR and the 998. I'm missing the bargeboards :( but the rear end sure is nice looking. Those stupid blinkers are going to be the first thing to go on every bike sold as they get integrated into the taillights (which I really like) ... I think Ducati specifically designed the brakelight so people would ditch that plateholder unit. ;)

Personally, I'm not sure what to think of the airrunners under the headlights, but I like the integrated turn signal/mirrors. (I bet the S model get color matched units.)

And lucky for me ... a new Ducati dealer just opened up about 40 minutes north of me (Fulton NY)! :punk

GREAT,
but I want to see it at the dealer.
So, the front headlights seem to me a little bit the Honda CBR ones and the rear lights the MV Agusta F4 ones.

Finally, we can forget the ugly 999 :funny: :funny: :funny: :funny: :funny:

The taillights remind me of the newer Aprilia Mille bikes.

I like the look better than the 749/999 bikes, but those sure have grown on me over the years.

mixing old (tank & swingarm from 916/996/998 series) and new (fairings).... To my eyes, seems, that hole bike is "bent" from middle"

Beautiful, but do you think that the 916 has been showed 13 years ago?

I agree, persempre907 - but I think that's what they were trying to go back to.

Personally, I like the side-by-side headlamps (especially since they mimic the Descosedici RR) & the single sided swing arm, but I'm kind of disappointed they didn't keep the bargeboards from the 999. I'm also not too thrilled about the fully digital clock (I like analog ... there's just something cathartic about seeing a needle sweep around a dial) but the whole thing definitely calls back to the 916 era.

Are Ducati taking the whole retro thing a bit too far???
Should it just be called the "916 Evolution" & slot into the sport classic range?

I really like the look of this bike & think the 916(& later variations) were probably the last of truely beautiful Modern bikes made. I have a real dislike for the modern bike that is all Angles & headlights. (There are some really ugly BMWs out there just now)The 999 was not a classic beauty but get it on the right angle it was awesome! I think the 1098 is a beautiful bike but just a bit too much of a 916. Sort of like the japanese have tried to do a copy of it. I do not quite get that thing that bike designers are doing with the rear end of bikes either. Why is ther so much clearance between rear wheel & tail peice. there is more clearance than on some chook chasers. I guess that is why I love teh classic lines of my humble old 906.

Would I buy one? if I had the $$$ but thanks to a plethora of children & related expenses they will be a classic by the time i am ready

I've seen the 1098 in milano expo two weeks ago and... What to say? It's nice, but I'm too mutch in love with paso design to appreciate any other bodywork!
I think I'll better save money for a naked like this one! :D
It will take me quite a long time to have enough €€€ to buy it, but... I can still dream it!

Finally it's true. It looks too much like other bikes even if I read it is a very, very fast bike, much more than the 999.

So, despite I don't like too much the supermotards, I'm starting to appreciate the Hypermotard...

It don't look like no other.
