I hadn't really paid much attention to it before,but that little M shape before the serial no. is the same shape as the Murayama sticker on my front fairing.Evidently Murayama motors were the largest importer of Ducatis into Japan and I would suggest that either they fitted the badges or ducati fitted them for murayama motors stock,thats my guess anyways.

And heres another one I just googled, on a 888 imported by (you guessed it) Murayama motors Japan.Image

Seems, that they are put there by Japan importer.

Those 851/888 SP's and 900 Superlights have number plate in triple clamp from factory. Also Foggy Replica have such plate, as i have seen one here in Finland. Probably all low production series have such in triple clamp, but seems, that also jap importer have add such to Paso. How about jap importer's 906's and 907IE's ? :smoke:

Mine also has one of these numbered badges on the rear cover , and it is also originally (?) from japan . Mrs Tool thinks it means something special so I didnt spoil her day
