Hey, Just wanted to drop a quick thank you note! Hats off to SKINS and jsclocum your posts on "wiring upgrad" and "Sync Dellorto" carbs were right on the money!!! I recently took a 1988 750 Paso in partial trade for my wife's 2003 Sportster as she thought it was too top heavy. She liked the Paso as it sits low and it's center of gravity is low also. Anyway I have never touched a Ducati before and the bike was running poorly so what to do....dive right it. I took it apart and found it has Dellorto PHF 36 carbs, the previous owner milled the clip on out to lower the forks but the main problem was the single to splitter throttle cable was crap. I ended up finding you web site did some reading and ordered a double cable throttle from http://www.bevelheaven.com and 27" throttle cables, engine gasket kit, brake rebuild kit. It took me two days to tear the bike down clean it up, install the cables ( had to remove 7/16" of cable sheating to get the right length) and do the wiring upgrade. Read SKINS post on syncing the carbs and settings. Paso fired up after a couple of tries. With the mixture screw set at 1.5 turns out per SKINS suggestion I got the Paso to idle steady but if you blipped the throttle hard from an idle it had a large flat spot but if you ran the ticks up to around 1400 then give it a twist it took off. Anyway I ran the front carb a little leaner at 1.25 turns in and the rear at 1.5, fixed it idles great and revs cleanly. The wiring suggestions were right on the money as well. Thanks again for taking the time to help us uneducated folks out. 
Ya I also forgot to thank whom ever found and posted the links to Dellorto's website. I had a complete break down of how their carb functions and explained how the carb works at different rpm ranges. SO thanks again. But to answer DesmoDog yes I got it figured out..prob like 95% but I was expecting a high compression twin to have monster bottom end power it is decent but not a monster. I have never ridden a Ducati before and the only thing I have to gauge it against is my 2000 Dyna Super Sport which is a 1450cc twin so I might be expecting a little to much from the Ducati although my Harley only ticks to 6500 so its a trade off. It is decent but I think the carb is still off just a touch so I will let my wife ride it for a while then give it a really good going over. I will get some pics posted today soon as I charge the camera battery.
