Dear Paso friends
It's a tiresome subject, but unfortunately there seems to be a shortage of 16 inch tyres again. As far as I know, only Shinko produces the SR 880/881 tyres in the correct format. Today I tried to order some tyres from the German supplier Schenk (www.mc-reifen.de). They told me: There are still some rear tyres available, but orders for front tyres are currently being collected worldwide. Shinko will only produce tyres if there are enough orders. This is understandable. If the old Ducati bikes are hardly ever ridden, then no more parts are needed. I will now put my name on the waiting list at Schenk (and pay half the deposit) in the hope that something will happen.
My request to the community: Please place your orders if you need tires in the near future, otherwise the issue will be over for all 16-inch Ducatis from the 1980s. That would be a great pity.
All the best, Hardo

Thanks - I tried RevZilla.com and JPCycle, but they don't ship to Europe. But I will try to find a way.
Whenever you have the tyres, it would be interesting to see when they are produced (DOT). Maybe you could give us this information.
In any case, we need to create some demand, otherwise it is understandable that Shinko will not produce the tyres anymore....

Re: Shortage of 16 inch tyres again
Hardo, search topic:
"New Tires on Paso"
Form around 2008:
"Michelin Pilot Sport 120/70/16 on my 3.5"x 16" Strada front wheel and a Pirelli Diablo 140/70/16 on my 5"x16" Strada rear wheel: Nichols mounted them, no problem. I chose these tires after a long look at the specs of what was available because they were the closest dimensionally to the original Michelins."
I rode on those tires 'till Golden Tyre Italy made correct dimensioned tires available and before they sold the molds to Shinko. They were just fine for my rides.
