Well, it took a while. I have looked for a unicorn, a low mileage and freshly restored bike. I even pestered some members of this forum directly. I think my pitch either offended them or rekindled their own passion for the bike! It is all good because I now have a 1991 907 i.e. Paso in the garage. I got the LA bike from the classifieds on this forum and here are my first impressions:
-Early fool injection means that one actually needs the choke for the first few minutes of warm up.
-The sound is simply sick. My Hypermotard is loud with the Termis, but this thing has the guttural bass and shaking. Coupled with with the gas smells and heat...one has to be careful and not overeat at the Alice's Restaurant breakfast buffet.
-That huge rectangular headlight and the full fairings make the bike stand out from the crowd. It is a rebellion against mass produced mediocrity, this look and mechanical design. A late 80s and early 90s icon!
-The low seat makes the bike very flickable. It is a lot easier to turn it than my MV Agusta and Hyper. Lower center of gravity wins
-Ergos fit me just so, although I have not gone for any long distance rides yet. It is not the classic "monkey spooning a football" pose. It feels good thus far.
I will post back with questions, I am sure.

Thank you for the welcome.
Yes, the cans are Staintune. They sound good. You get the lumpy idle of a twin, almost Harley like. You think it surely is going to stall with this lope, but no, it keeps doing its hiccup thing. Once under way it gets buttery smooth and the harmony is like my old rotary Rx7, perfectly zingy and light. When you take her up to 5K, the sound changes further, now adding a raspy snarl and a deeper level of cacophony. What a machine !
I am going to need to ride it with earplugs, but I sure like feeling that special tingle that comes with a great sounding engine.

Re: finally did it
I have been thinking about returning things to stock (white wheels and silver controls), but maybe i will follow your example and purchase another 907!
