Belts ?

Post by Projectman »

Can any UK Ducati owners tell me the best place to buy the belts for my 907?
Ducati dealers? Or are there better/cheaper (or not) options out there.
I don't mind paying more if there is a good reason, like not having a belt failure, but from what I've gathered the belts are likely to fail because of other components in the belt train being worn.

Thanks.

I have found out that, here in Italy, the belts are cheaper at Ducati dealers than elsewhere.

Ducati Dealers are very keanly priced in the UK for all wear and tear items, belts, batteries, bulbs, electrics generally(but check on here 1st with search) and pads etc.

I buy all the parts I need from Mdina Italia, www.mdinaitalia.co.uk

Also, get the Gates (pattern) belts rather than ducati. They are the same belt but cost 50% less.

In general, I have found that ducati main dealers do not want to know about older bikes, and nowdays do not even keep parts fiches for anything older than 1995, so unless you know the part number you require then they cannot help.

Thanks.
I ordered the belts from here http://www.reddoguk.com/ on Saturday. They had the oil cartridge in stock. Belts and cartridge came to £24.73, which was less than I was expecting.
They quoted about £28.00 for the other oil filter that I've had bother with.
The belts and filter should be in stock in about a week.
They were very helpful and patient, so I can't fault them thus far.
I'll check out the link you posted; Looks interesting.

You got a good price there.

One thing I would say, is that I have ordered stuff previously which the ducati main dealer says is available in Italy and will be there in a week, but then 2-3 weeks later you find out that the Italian stock system is inaccurate and actually the part is not available as when they looked there was none on the shelf.

The moral is, just because the main dealer says they can get it from Italy, doesnt actually mean they can.
