Re: weber what if ?

An increase in idle speed can make your gear changes alot less clunky,if that is the reason that you are fine tuning your clutch. The only downside to this is the bike tends to idle a bit high when hot (after a good thrashing),but soon returns to 1200 or so rpm within a few minutes of normal riding....

Re: weber what if ?

Yes I'm aware of your air filter and exhaust,I run exactly the same (conti cans & oval K&N). First try 57 idles. If you still have to unscrew your mixture volume screws a long way, something else isn't right. The size of the idle jets effects how quickly you run out of fuel during the transiti...

Re: weber what if ?

Try the stock 57 idle jets and see if that helps.I'm not sure why your 56's need to be opened so far ? J.

Re: öhlins overhaul; anyone?

Just out of curiosity Brutus, are the part numbers matching up with the spec sheet I posted ?
Looks like you're doing a great job,it will all go back together a lot easier than it came apart. J.

Re: öhlins overhaul; anyone?

Hi Brutus ,Ducbertus is right the pre-load ram is only oil filled and needs no servicing unless leaking. If you take it off the shock and wind the adjuster,it will pop apart.Kind of like popping a brake piston out with compressed air,but then oil goes everywhere, and there's nothing else to service a...

Re: weber what if ?

Sounds like you need a valve adjustment and a new spring for your sprag while you are at it. 4x is too much adjust your idle jet   ROFL   yes 4 turns is 1 1/2 further than I would have expected, and indicates a larger idle jet could be used, but if its running alright let it be. Re: weber what if ?

PM sent. You have that weber really looking good !,and writing the service details on the rocker covers is a great idea, especially if you have one or two shims that were getting close to service specs ,(like a couple of mine),you can go straight to them for a quick check.I'm going to do the same next...

Re: Carb crack!

More thoughts on your problem, going back to your earlier posts, 5 turns out on your idle screws and wont idle below 1500 rpm is way out, either too small idle jets, which you've checked, wrong idle screw taper, blockage or damage to carby or vacuum leak. Are you positive the screws are the correct ones...

Re: Cam timing advice

Yes Mctool, nobody is disputing that they leave the factory with the cams out of adjustment, but nobody buys a bike that won't idle below 1200 rpm (or something like that),so more likely than not his bike idled at 700 or 800 rpm when it left the factory and should still be able to now.Unless I'm mista...

Re: Carb crack!

I think that the best way to get to the bottom of this problem whether it be fuel, mechanical or electrical is to isolate the cyclinder that is playing up (if any). Before you start clean your plugs, older ducatis foul plugs easily and once fouled will not tune.If in doubt replace them. All it takes i...

Re: Cam timing advice

Is the cam timing going to be that far out from the factory that your bike won't idle properly ? I doubt it,your problem most probably lies elsewhere. Some knucklehead may have incorrectly adjusted the valves for instance (I hope not)  ,but it is unlikely that he also incorrectly adjus...

Re: Carb crack!

I'd give it a good clean ,maybe enlarge the crack slightly with a scribe or scraper and smear some good quality two pack epoxy across it,then wipe the excess off with metho or acetone.A light coating of vasoline or grease on the tip of the screw then seat it,will stop it getting stuck and keep the p...
