What normally happens when the chain either derails or breaks is that it rolls up on the front sprocket until the diameter is such that it pushes the crankcase out of the way .... Or maybe just run some Fuel Preservative and Stabiliser through it. If it's still available, the POR15 is pretty good stuff for cleaning gummed up fuel systems.
