Most likely you have a loose or corroded to the point of broken wire or connector.
Personally I would start by jumpering the fuel pump relay and trace it out from there.

Keep in mind automotive engines are quite different in their operating range and characteristics. Generally large bores and undersquare,water cooled and lower rpm ranges
