Re: weber what if ?

Start two weeks holidays next monday, then I'm back into it,the break has been good,it's given me a chance to think things over and formulate a couple of new plans of attack .Thanks for the encouragement Warwick ,I think that the 906 and the 750 are a little different in the way they react to the web...

Re: Paso 750 handling - can anyone describe it to me?

I believe that the steering geometry of the Paso contributes to the handling issues probably equally as much as the wheel diameter(which of course is a part of that geometry).I recently purchased a 500 sl pantah,Wow what a difference to riding the Paso, the road felt like it had doubled in width,I fe...

Re: weber what if ?

Will do Dave, I'm going to order some more jets, and formulate my plan of attack while I'm waiting on them,I had a sort through my miniature drill bits and found one half way between the 54 and 55 idle jets so I'm thinking about turning my 54's into 54.5's or there abouts,I know this sounds like I'm ...

Re: weber what if ?

Just a quick update,I tried the 54 idle 170 main 160 ac combo out and it was very good right through the rev range until wide open throttle where it went rich and caused a stumble, the obvious cure being to increase the ac to 170.If only it were that simple ? I will try next weekend.I changed the plu...

Re: weber what if ?

Ok, so here are a couple of data log plots from my 750 paso they are both taken from the same piece of road at about the same pace for comparison purposes.Rpm is shown at bottom air fuel ratio on left. all of the pink spots are different moments during the particular ride. All of the spots above and ...

Re: weber what if ?

Is there a method to the plug gap tuning ? or is it trial and error? I've been toying with the idea of advancing the ignition timing slightly to overcome the rich patch,I know that my 600's timing wasn't stock when I last checked the pickup clearances, but I can't remember which way it was advanced o...

Re: weber what if ?

Hi Higgy, I'm still trying to get the tune spot on,I have several setups that I'm trying, the best of them still has a niggly little rich miss at about 2000 rpm, depending on gear selection/throttle action, but is awesome all of the rest of the way up,and smooooth.None of that jerky on / off behaviour...

Re: Removing burnt shoe rubber from Exhaust

A tin of steam and a long weight can be found at most plumbing stores, just send the apprentice down for them. Not sure about the blue smoke though ?    jay

PS looks like the poms do have a sense of humour after all.

Re: Crankshaft Turning Tool

Hi Chasaduc, The factory has run a couple of different jetting setups in the webers on the 750. Before the middle of 1987 the jetting was 142 mains,160 air correctors and 60 idles. This would have been very rich down low with th 60 idles and stumbled around the 2500 - 3000 rpm mark.Today I ran 145,16...

Re: weber what if ?

Higgy, I'm using the 3.5 aux vents,I know you suggest the taller ones, but they are rather difficult to acquire so I decided to try working with the ones that most people already have,as a last resort I'll switch,I'm a glutton for punishment. :banghead: the model no.is on the front side of the carby,...

Re: weber what if ?

Still going at it,I havn't given up.The lean hole that I uncovered by reducing the idle from 55 to 50 is proving very stubborn to remove without excessively richening up the main jetting,so I've decided to tackle it from the other direction.Somewhere between 55 (rich stumble when gassing it around 2...

Re: weber what if ?

For anyone interested here is a link to some of the information I found usefull. It is quite a long thread but if you skip to the posts by john@aircooled,you will get the gist of it,there are some useful graphs on lean vs rich running and power, cyl temps etc. as well as an alternative way to tune ou...

Re: weber what if ?

Don't think my paso hasn't been ridden hard,it gets it's fair share of revs,I just find that it's got a lot of torque and doesn't mind less frequent gear changes and less revs.My pantah 600 ncr replica on the other hand must be ridden a lot harder as it lacks the low down torque and spends most of i...
