What normally happens when the chain either derails or breaks is that it rolls up on the front sprocket until the diameter is such that it pushes the crankcase out of the way .... I didn't know that, and it's an interesting theory, but it suggests to me that those metal case savers are totally usel...

I have had a Motobatt AGM battery in mine since I purchased it, and just replaced it with another Motobatt. The original lasted a bit over 3 years, and would still be good now, but that is another story. I won't press you on that then Nick as I likely have a similar story involving an Odyssey batte...

Or maybe just run some Fuel Preservative and Stabiliser through it. If it's still available, the POR15 is pretty good stuff for cleaning gummed up fuel systems.
