Re: regulator / rectifier 34368001

Its my turn to say sorry Dude, I've been kidding you about the circuit, my college lecturer for Electronics used to do this to me all the time. The AC power from the alternator is rectified by the power diodes and this is sent to the battery and DC bus (red wire). The important note here is that the...

Re: regulator / rectifier 34368001

J you never fail to amaze me http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x210/luckyskua/Final_zpsdc65d710.jpg No, as you can see the Alternator power output is rectified and is also monitored by the Regulator. The Reg/Rec needs a negative lead to fully rectify the AC input and if Regulator 'shunt' went only...

Re: regulator / rectifier 34368001

This 'shunt' is the action of any regulator for overvolt but it is never supposed to drop to Earth. Ducati wiring from the standard Energis has the Regulator output being fed to the ignition coils (Brown wire). I expect the only difference is that the reg output is now fed to the lights. This sort o...

Re: Floating discs for 906

which company is that ? The company is Spondon but they are owned by the new Norton brand so I don't know if they do any outside work now, although thats not the point. You can take this picture to a local frame builder or race part mfr, show them this picture and say "Look, floating discs can...

Re: Floating discs for 906

These are custom made from a UK specials builder. I use bronze sintered pads (Carbon Lorraine A2332-A3) and they are stunning. Wet weather performance is almost too much.

Re: I want to buy a 906 paso

The 906 is a great bike and worth holding onto. It has much more character than the Jap stuff. They are built to a formula, New model, update after 3 years, redesign after 5 and the big 4 all do it. What impressed me the most was the styling vs the crude power delivery and sound. Having only owned J...

Re: New Ducatis not so reliable.

Plenty of trouble with the new Ducatis. The 1200 Multistrada has dropped con-rods on several occasions due, apparently, to incorrect tightening of con-rod bolts. The Panigale has a blipper throttle for downchange and if the gear sensor is confused it will rev the bike while you are slowing down. Man...

Re: Gasoline within Oil / Gasoline Pipe questions

Float level is too high. Bend up the tab until the float is parallel to the above carb plate. The jet within the fuel line is to maintain fuel pressure. You might as well leave it in.

Re: Wideband sensor for Air/Fuel Ration (AFR)

This is great stuff Warwick. I must say, I have always thought the air-corrector jet idea to be over rated. Standard setting is as big as the main jet. I dropped it to 90 and increased the mains to 180. I mean, your regular flat slide doesn't have anything like that so I figured at high rpm the Paso...

Re: A Call for Help

Another product that might help is 'Weld putty'. The professionals joke about it but here it could be of use, if one side was packed out with the putty to hold the piece and the other side alloyed. The other property of Alumalloy is that it flows when hot, so to braze a wall it has to be flat to aid...

Re: A Call for Help

Sorry for the delay, its the time zones. Anyway, to make a zinc powder you have to do it the hard way, secure the rod in a vice (they are about 4mm dia), file an end down and collect the powder. You need more than a pinch. The rods are quite bulky and trying make a pass over such a delicate repair w...

Re: A Call for Help

You can make very fine 'welds' with Alumalloy / Lumiweld etc. It is a Zinc alloy and has a lower melting point than Aluminium. The only drawback being when the working temperature is reached the Aluminium will be soft as it is now near to its own melting point. What this means is you cannot clamp th...

Re: A Call for Help

prices are high because the same carbs are used on older Maserati Mereks, Ferrari's and some VW and they are long out of production Ha ha, what a laugh. Hold onto your Paso until the carb is worth $10,000. About the carb repair, Lumiweld can be used for minor repairs but you'll need a micro-torch, ...

Re: Bleeding the front brakes

I bleed my 906 brakes yearly, the easiest way I have found (and the cleanest) is to remove the entire twin caliper assy intact from the bike and place it all on the drainer. Then I suck/pump new fluid thru each caliper the old way - release caliper bleed nipple, pump and hold lever, tighten caliper ...
