Re: Just bought a 1992 907ie... now it won't start

Re-iterating what's been said.... It sounds to me as though the clutch cover's throwout bearing/piston bore has some corrosion in it, or the oring seal is compromised. That may be a D-ring, I forget. Any corrosion of debris in there can prevent the piston from retracting or pushing in fully to disen...

Re: help wont start

Don't run your bike on starting fluid while trying to sort this out. Not good at all for the engine.

Re: Better starting behavior?

I got a brand new battery in there. And it started very well. But now, it turns the crankshaft, turns and turs and turns, i`ve got sparking plugs, wet plugs, but it dos not fire up :-( On the 750 of mine the power lead to the coils and electronic control units first passes through the solenoid, on ...

Re: Better starting behavior?

I've put this out there before but in the interest of helping others, I will again. I did go through a few things on my bike to hopefully improve starting, one being changing out the relay. I'd done coils which solved a plug fouling issue on the horizontal cylinder, but starting continued to plague ...

Re: Dyna coils on ebay (Austria)

If this will help anyone: Here is how I mounted Dyna Coils to my stock 750 hangers. A few kerfs cut with hacksaw allowed hangers to be spread to accept the longer dyna's. It appears I moved them up the frame a bit to accomodate differing plug wire connection points from the stockers (the unpainted s...

Re: More electrical probs

check and clean your off/run/off and start switch. Check if there is a current drop across them. If substantial, a good cleaning will help.

It's often said you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. This whole thread is full of examples of the opposite.......making sow's ears out of silk purses.

International laws I reckon-not just specific to Italy or Germany. Company rules governing business across borders.

Re: New tires ?

Delayed gratification is good exercise for the mind. Probably not as good for it as riding on two wheels on a crisp sunny day, though.

Re: LED Idiot lights

This is better . I had fitted a 25w halogen bulb to the blinker idiot light , reasoning that as it wouldnt be on for long it wouldnt melt the dash , but I wouldnt have got away with that in any of the other idiot lights , and the one's on my SS were just as bad . I think I'll get me some of these t...

Re: Forks are crooked after asembly

Does anyone else use this during a front wheel mounting or fork/steering stem work? Once you have everything assembled but just prior to final tightening, you spin the front wheel by hand, then apply the brake. I doubt that is enough force to straighten what needs to be straightened on your bike but...

I found dash bulbs at an old stereo shop.

I went a step up in brightness (wattage) which marginally helped on the blinker indicators.

Re: spark plug spacers - where to find ?

I think you could use indexing washers. Here they can be had through catalog speed shops like jeg's and summit from companies such as morosso and accel

Even an automotive speed shop or performance auto parts store might carry them.
