Re: Chain guard swing arm 750 Sport requested

Good luck on that one Joep. Hard to find item. I found one for my project bike, and it took me almost 2 years of searching e-bay. I had a machinist make me adapters that press into the cases and fits to a newer swingarm. An easier solution is to get a motor from a newer SS and use the newer swingarm...

Re: M1R Fork rebuilds

While I have no experience with any suspension shop specially not in the UK, there`s for example http://www.pittedforks.co.uk Nice to see someone is doing this. I searched a few years back, and could find nobody in the States that would do it. Ended up finding new legs, which weren't cheap. Let us ...

Nice custom Sport

Posted a few years back now on Pipeburn. Still good to see another interpretation of the bike we all know so well. Certainly not they way I envision this bike, but that's why we look at other's art.

Re: anodizing footpegs & brackets?

The stock parts were anodized, and had a silver colorant added most likely, and a clear sealer coat. Silver/aluminum colored parts should work just fine. Surely the stock finish of the Paso parts would not pass inspection for Apple these days, or companies like MV Agusta. The swingarm has cast and e...

Re: anodizing footpegs & brackets?

Anodizing cast parts works just fine, but the appearance is difficult to predict and may be splotchy, especially if dark colors are chosen. Tumbling or bead blasting will improve the consistency of the appearance. Acid etch will also help. Matte finish is generally better than attempting a shiny sur...

I'm very interested in all three of these items. Where are you located?

Re: steering damper curious

Well, that certainly looks like it works. A fine job of tucking it in there. The action won't be as linear as it would be mounted to the outside of the fork, but I'm not sure that matters that much. High speed wobbles are mostly while pointed straight, and not in a parking lot where you are testing ...

Turn signal CAD?

Anyone have a STP or IGES file for the turn signal lenses? I now have a reasonable method for making a mold and shooting some parts, but need some CAD to move forward. I will probably make a few mods, like making the part a bit thicker so its stronger.

Re: steering damper curious

I didn't mount it on the right side because I have the helmet lock there. Mine still works. Trust that mounting a damper is not an easy task. There is only one position that it works, and it will still hit your knee at times. I tried several dampers, and mounting concepts before I settled on this on...

Re: steering damper curious

I put one on my bike shortly after I bought it. There was evidence that the bike had experienced a tank slapper or two in its previous life. The paint on the two frame tubes heading to the headset had a series of hairline cracks in the paint on both side. Of course a few suspension upgrades helped a...

Well that answers the question of what length shock was on the '89 900. Seems same as the 750 Sport, and the later 750ss.

Re: will these Marzocchi M1R Forks fit

Looks like all the bits you would need, especially if you are upgrading to 17" wheels. Confirm what the brake caliper mounts are, as I can't quite tell from the tiny photo. May be set up for 300 or 320mm brakes and 4 piston calipers, or for the F08 brakes and 280mm rotors. Good upgrade. Cheers,...

Re: monoshock

Any shock from the SS series will work. The 900SS shock is 6mm longer than the 750 unit. The longer shock will give you quicker steering, which is good for the Sport. Of course there is a bunch of aftermarket shocks for these bikes, and you can usually find a good deal on Ebay if you are patient. Ho...
