Re: 750 Sport restoration project

I didn't get the original mirrors with the bike. I'm not even sure what they look like but these will have to do for now. How's your bike coming along?.

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

I haven't done a lot to the Sport lately but I did add some new mirrors. I did want to replace the Napolean mirror with another new pair but at $90 each it seemed a bit expensive for now. https://i.imgur.com/m5tjMAU.jpg We have had a lot of rain lately and I can't get the bike out of the garage so a...

How are you feeling mate?. My daughter caught it and was a bit crook for one night then was fine.

Hopefully he'll get it sorted soon. I wish I had finished mine off sooner because it's a joy to ride.

Bugga. My son is in WA working. I haven't seen him in over 12 months but McStarlin is apparently easing the borders soon so he's booked to come over next month.

Your bike is so clean compared to mine haha. What did you use as a tank protector?.

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

Thanks Marc, appreciate that.

I'll have a look this week as we're expecting a bit of rain so I should have some quality shed time  .

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

Thanks, I tried that by riding with the brakes slightly on and it still did it. I considered the forks topping out but it's doing it on much smaller bumps than those that would top the forks out. The fork tubes are pitted and I cleaned them up with some wet and dry until I can get them rechromed and...

IMG_18022022_202740_(1024_x_768_pixel).jpgI've been pressed for time myself lately and being a bit slack at responding to stuff, I think you said it all with the front end feels a touch off but she still handles beautifully. The thing is these pantah engined bikes are so good and so mysterious we h...

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

I gave her a quick wash before I went out for a ride. Something I don't normally do.

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

I went for another ride with my other historic club yesterday. The Sport handled well enough but still had clunk over sharp bumps. I'm wondering if it might be the steering damper moving around on the heim joint. You can see the movement in these photos. https://i.imgur.com/SVhqIU4.jpg https://i.img...

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

The strange thing is it's handling like a dream. No weaves or wallows. She tracks as straight as an arrow whether through sweepers or in a straight line.

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

Off the bike lift and check the steering head bearings. Disconnect the steering damper. https://i.imgur.com/2kSI9tr.jpg I must remember to do that back up :dunno: Loosen this... https://i.imgur.com/15i3mRK.jpg ...and that https://i.imgur.com/A2frvZE.jpg And the top triple clamp bolts. https://i.imgu...

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

It's back on the lift to try and find what the clunking noise is that's coming from the front end. Off with the fairing again. https://i.imgur.com/JBaNEXQ.jpg That's when I noticed this on the lift. https://i.imgur.com/hCI4Zs2.jpg So where's that coming from. https://i.imgur.com/EOuMGag.jpg Not here...

 So I'm thinking to myself, how the hell do you zero the trip meter  I honestly don't remember fitting this thing back on the bike   https://i.imgur.com/kI36R37.jpg I also checked the steering head tension today. I found another little surprise while I had the fairing off. I...

Re: 750 Sport restoration project

That's weird I typed out a reply but it disappeared. Anyhow, thanks guys. It's good to know someone is reading these and Hwy's pages. I know when I need to find some info that it's nice to be able to read other peoples experiences and especially when they add photos so we can see how they went about...
