Re: Gearboxes

Yes Rodney it is possible to fit the paso transmission into the earlier pantah cases,as I have done it to mine. Some considerations are dry clutch is probably required, bearings slightly smaller on paso so need bushing, slight grinding of crank case interior to fit new gear race ,different output shaft...

Re: Gasoline within Oil / Gasoline Pipe questions

Simple test Alf. Take your air cleaner off and look inside the carby with the engine off but the fuel pump running (ignition on).If the carby is flooding, you will see fuel dripping from the centre of either venturi. You may need a torch to see clearly. This is the first place it starts dripping from ...

Re: Seat on eBay

Lane, At the risk of offending Ian,if you can, get out of the auction.I have one of these seats, and as the auction says ,they are new,But..... The vinyl is getting old and whilst there are no tears, you can see where it is going to let go along the bottom edges. These are not wear marks, just a tighten...

Just as a precaution, undo your dry clutch cover and put a light smear of grease on the pressure button. J.

Re: Wideband sensor for Air/Fuel Ration (AFR)

That's right G,Carbs are rather imprecise, and the point at which a problem occurs can change, due to gear selections, throttle positions, terrain etc. That is why mapping is so effective, because different maps can be made or computed for things like throttle position gear selection, and injection and ign...

Re: Wideband sensor for Air/Fuel Ration (AFR)

Please dont get me wrong, the lm2 and other cheaper meters without data logging, are very accurate instruments, and will show you a correct reading for most uses, but for split second readings, they only show the readings in the seconds leading up to the problem, and the seconds after. It is very difficult...

Re: Wideband sensor for Air/Fuel Ration (AFR)

Just thought of something that clarifies my last post which was a long time ago. The weber problems happen very briefly, whilst under acceleration. This is not a situation that can be continued by holding the throttle at a certain position. It happens and is gone within a second or two. The lambda mete...

Re: A Call for Help

I forgot to mention that there are two types of top cover (different amount of bolt holes),be carefull if you do find one that the number of holes matches yours. He is also selling the plastic weber floats,so I assumed
that the top cover also matched the paso weber. This may not be correct,so check. J.

Re: Battery standby life

Many early model bikes have regulator / battery draining issues or similar.A simple remedy on the Paso,is to place a battery isolator switch between the battery box and fuel tank,on the battery earth lead.this doubles as a kill switch and is easily accessed by lifting the seat. J.

Re: Bearings crankshaft / SKF

The crankshaft bearings are not standard deep groove bearings.I think that they are called angular contact bearings from memory, but that is not important. What is important is that they require preload, the same as a tapered roller bearing requires preload. This is achieved with shims on the cranksha...
